Dear Fellow Austenians,
I am leaving for Norland Park in just a few moments and wanted to leave you with a few thoughts...
"There's a tendency for people to view the sudden popularity of Jane Austen as a reaction against some feature of current society. I think the phenomenon runs deeper than that. You don't have to be running or recoiling from something else to feel delight upon discovering Jane Austen."-- Karen P.
I agree with that sentiment only I do derive great pleasure from being swept into a world that so unlike my own. What do you think?
Also, I spoke with Bobbi Pearson at the Relief Society Super Saturday today and she will be joining us. Please note that I have posted on this blog the current reading selection, the reading/meeting schedule, and some great Austen links. Please feel free to add your own two cents...no pun intended...to our blog. Also any suggestions on things you would like to see on our blog that will be helpful in our adventures...please let me know.
Well, I must go. I am spending the evening with my friends at Norland Park.
Your devoted fellow Austenian,
Karmen

Ha Ha Norland Park.
the site looks great you just need to let everyone know about it and quit thinking that nobody wants to look at it and comment. Silly.
Great job as usual. I am done with the book. Can't wait to start the next one.
I like the site. I have one chapter left. I hate finishing things. I took the quiz and it said I was like Elinor. Did I spell that right? The whole way through I wanted to scream at these women telling them to say what is on their minds! Awwww!!! So much heartache.
I didn't retake the quiz, but now that I've reread the book, I think I totally relate to Elinor. The way Jane Austen writes makes everyone seems so ridiculous.
What time are we meeting Thursday?
Okay, I'm reading Emma, but I'm having a harder time with it than I thought I would.
I had a thought about our next series of books. Maybe we could do a "The Book That Changed My Life" series. Everyone could pick the book that fits in that category to share with the rest of us. We'd read some really good books and probably learn a lot about each other in the process....
