Adventures with Jane
Dear Fellow Austenians,
I am leaving for Norland Park in just a few moments and wanted to leave you with a few thoughts...
"There's a tendency for people to view the sudden popularity of Jane Austen as a reaction against some feature of current society. I think the phenomenon runs deeper than that. You don't have to be running or recoiling from something else to feel delight upon discovering Jane Austen."-- Karen P.
I agree with that sentiment only I do derive great pleasure from being swept into a world that so unlike my own. What do you think?
Also, I spoke with Bobbi Pearson at the Relief Society Super Saturday today and she will be joining us. Please note that I have posted on this blog the current reading selection, the reading/meeting schedule, and some great Austen links. Please feel free to add your own two cents...no pun intended...to our blog. Also any suggestions on things you would like to see on our blog that will be helpful in our adventures...please let me know.
Well, I must go. I am spending the evening with my friends at Norland Park.
Your devoted fellow Austenian,
Karmen
